Zoo to Paoli Electrification Transmission Line
The Project upgrades Amtrak’s aging and inaccessible 138 kV
transmission infrastructure by relocating it within the Amtrak right-of-way
and installing a modern 6.9 kV signal power system to improve
reliability and capacity. Challenges include constructing hundreds of new
catenary structures across an active rail corridor, coordinating phased
work through SEPTA stations to maintain passenger service during
outages, and replacing major substation infrastructure while integrating
advanced electrical and control systems. SC Engineers, as a
subconsultant, is providing electrical substation inspection and railroad
coordination services throughout all phases of the project.
