VN-81x Suspended Span Lower-Level Deck Rehabilitation & VN-86 Roadway Improvements on the Belt Parkway Eastbound Merge at the Verrazzano Narrows Bridge 

The project involves the comprehensive rehabilitation of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge (VNB) lower-level suspended span, including deck repairs, joint replacements, parapet upgrades, and painting of structural steel elements. The VN-86 component focuses on widening the eastbound Belt Parkway merge, reconfiguring the Bay 8th Street interchange, and upgrading associated roadway infrastructure such as lighting, drainage, signage, and guiderails. Key challenges include managing complex MPT setups, executing extensive steel and concrete construction on active transportation routes, and integrating a Weigh- In-Motion (WIM) system at Tolling Area. The project will enhance the structural integrity of the bridge and improve traffic flow and safety on the Belt Parkway. SCE as a subconsultant, is providing construction management and field inspection services for both civil and structural scopes.
