RK PT-2 Robert F. Kennedy Bridge Over Coating of the Queens Approach Structure and Towers
he project involves cleaning and painting the Queens Approach and East River Suspension Span towers of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, including full containment, sandblasting, and remediation of localized lead paint areas. Key challenges include managing environmental controls, coordinating with NYC Parks and nearby residential communities, and maintaining safety and cleanliness during extended work shifts. SCE as a subconsultant, provided NACE-certified coating inspectors, quality control, and civil inspection services related to drainage and erosion control. The project was completed ahead of schedule and CM team was recognized with the 2024 ACEC NY Diamond Award for Special Projects.
