Project Manager (Transportation)

SC Engineers is seeking an experienced Project Manager to support our growing transportation practice in the Baltimore, Maryland area. The successful candidate will manage roadway and transit infrastructure projects from design through construction, serving as the primary point of contact between clients, design consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders. The Project Manager will be responsible for project planning, budgeting, scheduling, contract administration, technical design oversight, quality management, and coordination of multidisciplinary teams to successfully deliver transportation infrastructure projects. Must be a licensed professional engineer in the state of Maryland.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage roadway, highway, bridge, transit, and other transportation infrastructure projects through planning, design, procurement, construction, and closeout.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between owners, contractors, design consultants, utility companies, and regulatory agencies.
  • Develop and monitor project schedules, budgets, staffing plans, and work plans to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Oversee consultant and contractor performance, ensuring compliance with contract documents, specifications, project requirements, and applicable standards.
  • Lead project meetings, prepare meeting agendas and minutes, and provide regular progress reports to clients and executive management.
  • Review technical documents, including plans, specifications, shop drawings, RFIs, change orders, CPM schedules, cost estimates, and payment applications.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams, including civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, and systems disciplines.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impacts on schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Manage project quality assurance and quality control processes.
  • Support proposal development, project pursuits, client presentations, and business development activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing transportation infrastructure projects.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Maryland
  • Experience managing roadway, highway, transit, rail, bridge, or heavy civil construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, construction administration, contract management, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • · Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience with Maryland transportation agencies including MDOT, MDTA, WMATA, MDTA, MAA, local municipalities, or other public agencies.
  • Experience managing state and federally funded transportation projects.
  • Familiarity with FHWA, AASHTO, MUTCD, ADA, and applicable transportation design and construction standards.
  • Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, Bentley ProjectWise, or similar project management platforms.

Salary Range:

  • $140,000-$165,000
