The Office Engineer (OE) is responsible to manage the flow of documents between internal and external partners, prepare project reports, support field oversight, and additional duties to support the resident engineering team. This is an onsite position located at Newark, New Jersey.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist Project Manager and Resident Engineer as required with all documentation.
- Maintain projects records on electronic data base.
- Review inspector’s Daily Reports for accuracy
- Assist with quantity reporting, project costs, and forecasting
- Coordinate, review, and assess contract submittals and ensure compliance with documents submitted for approval
- Verify inspectors document the project with details such as field progress, field conditions, equipment use, and correcting actions
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly reports as required
- Support the project management team with field oversight as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.S. in Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture.
- 3-5 years of experience in construction including two years’ experience as an Office Engineer.
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good writing, communication, organizational skills required
- BS in engineering or construction management
- EIT or CMIT preferred
- 5+ years of construction experience in bridge, highway and railroad projects, including a background in both field inspection and office engineering
- Prior NJ Transit, DOT, and Amtrak experience highly preferred
