JOB DETAIL FOR STRUCTURAL STEEL INSPECTOR
SC Engineers, PC is looking for a Structural Steel Inspector to join our Resident Engineering team in New York City. The ideal candidate will have the construction knowledge and experience to ensure all phases of structural steel projects are performed in accordance with applicable codes and specifications. This position is responsible for performing visual inspections of structural steel repairs and bolted connections, and for various projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Evaluate welding/bolting conditions to ensure public safety, monitoring the construction sites, performing surveys and inspections.
- Read construction documents to determine project details and specification.
- Complete daily reports, test reports and timesheets in a timely manner.
- Communicate orally and in writing with engineers and staff members, agency representatives, contractors and business and property owners.
- Adhere to construction site safety guidelines and promotes a safe working environment.
- Inspection of construction operations.
- Creating written documentation, and reviewing plans to ensure compliance with ordinances, regulations, and building codes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- 5 years or more of experience in performing steel inspection, including welded and bolted connections.
- Bolting/welding certification required.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (oral and written).
- Ability to work at heights if necessary.
- Valid driver’s license with good-standing driving record.
