Hudson Tunnel
The Project is a major infrastructure initiative that will improve rail capacity and resiliency between New Jersey and New York by constructing a new two-track tunnel under the Hudson River and rehabilitating the existing, storm-damaged North River Tunnel. Together, these efforts will eliminate a critical bottleneck on the Northeast Corridor and support long-term service reliability for Amtrak and NJ TRANSIT. Challenges include constructing large-scale infrastructure beneath dense urban environments, coordinating across multiple jurisdictions and transportation agencies, and maintaining uninterrupted service during the multi-phase rehabilitation. SCE as a subconsultant to the PMCM team, is providing civil engineering subject matter experts, railroad coordination, and FTA/FRA reporting, and resident engineering services.
