The ideal candidate as a Construction Inspector will be extremely observant and attentive to detail. The responsibilities include ensuring compliance with contract documents, enforcing regulations that pertain to the construction, observing work in progress to assure conformance with requirements, and acceptable workmanship. Construction inspections may include foundations, concrete, steel, masonry, wood construction, framing, plastering and a large variety of other complex transportation and building construction activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Create and maintain accurate detailed project reports to ensure that all projects are executed in accordance with the contract, design, budget, and schedule.
- Report to the Chief Inspector on the status of the project, including any issues that occurred.
- Construction oversight to monitor contractor’s progress, workmanship and general conformance with the contract documents.
- Reviews design, safety, quality plans and construction phase submittals associated with the Project.
- Works with RE team to review requests for change from the field.
- Ensures contractor conforms to Safety Site Specific Work Plan (SSSWP).
- Communicates and implements safety rules, policies, and procedures in support of the Company’s safety vision and goals.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years relevant work experience required.
- Must have the ability to coordinate efforts with other technical disciplines and have knowledge of reading contract plans and review construction schedules.
- Possess strategic and tactical skills required for planning and executing complex project work.
- Effective communication, motivation, and team performance skills required
- Demonstrated experience in using PC-based word processing and spreadsheet (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to prepare daily reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to commute to site.
- Available to work weekends and nights as required.
- 2-4 Years of experience with bridges or highways
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS degree in engineering, construction management or related field
- Certifications by the International Code Council (ICC/ICBO), e.g. Building Inspector, Plumbing Code, Electrical Code, Mechanical Code, Plans Review.
- Practitioner experience with construction and construction management.
