JOB DETAIL FOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST
SC Engineers, PC (SCE) is seeking an experienced and results-driven Business Development Specialist to join our Business Development team and lead growth initiatives across our transportation, infrastructure, and building markets. This role sits at the core of SCE’s strategic expansion efforts and works closely with executive leadership, technical teams, and marketing to identify opportunities, build client relationships, and secure new work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within the A/E/C and public-sector markets.
- Develop and execute strategic business development plans aligned with SCE’s growth objectives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with public and private sector clients, partners, and stakeholders.
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and client needs assessments.
- Lead and support RFQ, RFP, and SOQ pursuits in coordination with proposal and technical teams.
- Support go/no-go decisions and pursuit strategies.
- Coordinate with project managers and technical staff to develop compelling pursuit strategies and win themes.
- Track leads, pursuits, and client interactions using CRM systems.
- Represent SCE at industry events, conferences, and networking functions.
- Prepare and deliver client presentations and capability briefings.
- Monitor market trends and identify emerging opportunities.
- Support contract negotiations and pre-award activities as needed.
- Maintain accurate pipelines and forecast reports for leadership.
- Ensure all business development activities align with SCE branding and messaging.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 5–10+ years of business development experience within A/E/C firms.
- Proven success in lead generation, client development, and revenue growth.
- Strong understanding of public-sector procurement processes.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Experience supporting RFQs, RFPs, and SOQs.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven.
- Proficiency with CRM and proposal management tools.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and executive teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in transportation, infrastructure, or municipal markets.
- Established client network within the A/E/C industry.
- Experience with CRM tools such as Deltek Vantagepoint, Unanet, or similar systems.
- Strong strategic planning and leadership capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to close work and grow accounts.
