SC Engineers is seeking an experienced Team Leader or Assistant Team Leader to join our bridge inspection group. The ideal candidate has all relevant NHI safety inspection certifications for in-service bridges and be familiar with NBIS Bridge and Ancillary Structure inspection requirements. Candidates should have at least 2-5 years of recent experience in bridge inspection and/or bridge design experience for highways, roadways, structures, railroads, and/or moveable bridges.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Perform NBIS biennial, special, and in- depth hands-on bridge inspections.
- Produce inspection reports documenting the findings.
- Respond to emergency structural inspections.
- Responsible for engineering projects in field or office in accordance with plans and specifications.
- Directs and supervises the work of engineers, technicians, drafters and administrative staff.
- Coaches field staff on the purpose and processes of inspections and inspection techniques.
- Makes independent decisions within a general framework.
- Actively observes and enforces safety protocols.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be physically fit to climb and work in confined spaces or under adverse weather conditions as required.
- Must be able to work in challenging environments, including working from heights, in enclosed environments, and working around traffic.
- BS degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Bridge inspection and design experience.
- Strong coordination, communication and computer skills, and a team player.
- Daily travel in the NY/NJ/CT metropolitan area.
- Valid Driver’s license
- FHWA Training
- NY/NJ/CT Professional Engineer (PE) license is required for “Team Leader”. Not required for ATL.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Open Water Dive certification a plus but not required.
- Experienced with MTA, NYSDOT, NYCDOT, CTDOT, NJDOT, NJTA, SJTA, and PANYNJ Bridge Inspections highly preferred
- Bridge load rating experience using load rating softwares, and advanced functions of Microsoft Excel and using / writing macros.
- Familiar with AutoCAD and MicroStation.
