AW-X9 Rehabilitation of the HVAC Systems at the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel and Queens Midtown Tunnel Service Buildings
The project involves the full rehabilitation of HVAC systems at the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel and Queens Midtown Tunnel service buildings, including replacement of rooftop units, boilers, ductwork, and obsolete infrastructure, as well as hazardous material abatement and roof restoration. Challenges include maintaining building services while upgrading obsolete infrastructure and coordination in confined spaces. SCE as a subconsultant, provided project management, mechanical inspection, and testing and commissioning oversight services to ensure quality control and coordination throughout these complex mechanical upgrades. The project enhances energy efficiency, system reliability, and safety at both facilities.
