Kensico to Eastview Connection
The project involves constructing a 2-mile, 27-foot diameter deep rock tunnel to convey drinking water from Kensico Reservoir to the CDUV Facility in Eastview, enhancing system reliability and allowing maintenance without service disruption. Challenges include complex deep rock tunneling using a TBM, large-scale shaft construction, rock blasting near critical infrastructure, and managing environmental impacts while maintaining continuous drinking water service to millions of residents. SCE, as a subconsultant, is providing comprehensive construction management services across all five packages, including resident engineering, inspections, environmental oversight, and tunneling technical support.
