ADA Upgrade of Broadway Junction Station Complex and Circulation improvements
The project will transform one of New York City’s busiest and most
complex transit hubs into a fully accessible station, connecting the A/C,
J/Z, and L subway lines. The work includes installing new elevators and
stairs, leveling uneven floor surfaces, creating ADA-compliant boarding
areas, and improving signage and wayfinding systems to meet or exceed
current accessibility standards. The upgrades will provide redundant,
accessible paths between all lines and integrate seamlessly with the
station’s existing architecture. Challenges include executing major
structural and vertical circulation improvements within a multi-level,
active station, while minimizing disruption to transit operations and
ensuring full ADA compliance across three distinct subway lines. As a
subconsultant, SC Engineers is providing mechanical Inspections and
systems engineering.
