47 East 44th Street Ventilation Building:
The project includes demolition of the existing five-story building in midtown Manhattan, excavation of sidewalk vault and basement, installation of permanent rock anchors during shaft excavation, and installation of initial support for the ventilation shaft using mechanical excavation and drill & blast.
245 Park Avenue Entrance:
The project included the construction of a new entrance to Grand Central Terminal along with new escalators and stairway via track 13. Scope includes demolishing a portion of the floor slab & supporting steel of 245 Park Avenue building street-level plaza and demolition & relocation of associated mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installations, modifying the structural framing. Constructed new foundations, walls, and supports for new escalators and stairs, reconstruction of the platform & support structures at the south and north ends of Platform E installed one nonstop escalator connecting 47th Street cross passageway, installed architectural materials & finishes for the interior lobby at street level, installed new plumbing & fire protection including track drainage modifications at the north end of Platform E, installed new HVAC including heating, ventilation & smoke exhaust system in entrance lobby & corridor connecting the 47th Street cross passageway, installed HVAC in security room & cooling for electrical room and escalator control room, installed lighting, power, fire alarm, and grounding systems & relocation of power & controls for equipment feeding parked non-electrical trains, installed communication systems including CCTV, VIS, telephone, PA, two-way radio, and associated cables and conduits, and conduits for TVMs.
